Thank you to the Board for composing this statement. It was very carefully done and I commend your citations from Pope Francis and Pope Leo! It is a fine example of pastoral oversight and doctrinal development and exampliefies the role of theologians in this synodal process. If I can be of help in furthering this discussion, please contact me. Is this a "public statement"? To whom is it being addressed?

Thanks Mary Ann, for your questions.

If you look again at the opening paragraph, the statement is address to our members. This aligns with the existing policy concerning public statements.

It urges members to read and study the statement, and sees in it an important model for a synodal way of proceeding in theology and the magisterium's discernment on emerging questions. It would be most helpful if you and others could encourage study and discussion of the text in your networks and classrooms.
